VitalsVersus ("we", "our", or "the app") is a health and fitness challenge app that lets friends compete on steps, weight loss, and workout goals. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Account information. When you sign up we store your email address, display name, and profile photo (if provided).

Health and fitness data. With your explicit permission, the app reads the following from Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect:

• Step count
• Body weight measurements
• Workout sessions (type, duration, calories)

This data is used solely to calculate challenge scores and display your progress within the app.

Challenge data. Scores, weekly results, and challenge participation are stored securely so that challenge participants can see shared leaderboards.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Calculate and display challenge scores and rankings
• Show your progress over time within the app
• Send local on-device notifications about challenge activity (if enabled)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or health data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the following legal bases:

• Consent: Health and fitness data is only accessed after you grant explicit permission through your device's health platform.
• Contract: Account and challenge data is processed to provide you with the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interest: We process minimal data for account security and service reliability.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure in the United States. Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Access to backend services is restricted to authenticated users.

5. International Data Transfers

Your data is processed and stored in the United States using Google Cloud infrastructure. Google maintains appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

6. Data Sharing

When you join a challenge, other participants in that challenge can see your display name and aggregated scores. They cannot see your raw health data (e.g., individual weigh-ins or daily step breakdowns). You can choose to appear as "Anonymous" on leaderboards via the Share Activity setting.

We do not share data with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-broker services.

7. Data Retention

Your personal data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is removed. Anonymized aggregate challenge history (e.g., "Deleted User" scored X in week Y) may be retained to preserve the integrity of challenge results for other participants.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access. You can export all your data from Settings > Export My Data in the app, or by contacting us.
• Rectification. You can update your display name and profile photo in the app at any time.
• Erasure. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Delete Account in the app, or by visiting our account deletion page.
• Data portability. You can export your data in machine-readable JSON format from the app.
• Restriction and objection. You can revoke health data permissions at any time through your device settings. Contact us for other requests.

9. Your Choices

• Health permissions. You can grant or revoke health data access at any time through your device's Settings (Apple Health or Health Connect).
• Notifications. You can enable or disable notifications in the app's notification settings.
• Share Activity. You can choose to appear as "Anonymous" on challenge leaderboards.
• Account deletion. You can delete your account from Settings > Delete Account in the app, or visit app.vitalsversus.com/delete-account.html.

11. Children's Privacy

VitalsVersus is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
